Simon Cowell will be rubbing his hands with glee as his protégés One Direction landed their first No1 single today.
The quintet scored the biggest week one sales of the year so far with debut release What Makes You Beautiful clocking up over 153,000 sales since last Monday.
Liam, Louis, Niall, Harry and Zayn leapfrogged artists such as Bruno Mars, Olly Murs, Jennifer Lopez, and The Wanted who all broke through the 100,000 sales-in-one-week barrier this year.

Although they are new to the industry, they are fast becoming one of the countries most famous bands, with many people saying there has not been this much hysteria over a group since the early days of Take That.
And the boys certainly know how to celebrate in style.
While performing their new single live at G-A-Y in London, club promoter Jeremy Joseph thought it might be quite nice to present Niall with a cake for his 18th birthday.
On it he had taken the time and trouble to put a picture of the pop singer as a baby.
He also gave the group a No1 cake to celebrate their new single, which is also the biggest selling pre-ordered track on iTunes.
But moments later Joseph decided it might be fun to shove the birthday cake into Niall‘s face, before asking which of the boys wanted the the second cake and a screaming crowd voted for Louis.
Needless to say the entire spectacle ended with cake being thrown all over the place, as chunks of butter icing were also flung into the crowd who seemed delighted to join in the fun.
Many of them took to social networking site Twitter to talk about it.
The boys excitedly responded by tweeting afterwards: ‘hahahah we had a cake fight so there was slippy icing ..it was soo funny (sic).‘
Record boss Simon Cowell said of the band earlier this week: ‘They’re going to ignite big time.
‘You’re going to see an explosion the likes of which we haven’t seen since Take That – and that’s exciting. There is just a buzz in the air. I can feel it at the moment.‘
The band are the third finalists from the 2010 series of X Factor to make it to number one.
Winner Matt Cardle scored last year’s Christmas No1 and Cher Lloyd’s debut single Swagger Jagger also reached the top spot.
