Former X Factor finalists, One Direction – which consists of band members Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles – are to star in a one-off ITV1 programme in November, which will document their meteoric rise to fame.
Music mogul Simon Cowell reportedly convinced TV bosses to agree to the show after the band bagged their first-ever UK number one with their debut track ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ on Sunday.
He said, “Wait until you see what happens to One Direction in the next couple of weeks…
“There’s going to be an explosion happen here, the likes of which we haven’t seen since Take That.”
Meanwhile, the band have also teamed up with Nokia to create their first-ever fans’ phone, which will apparently come complete with One Direction wallpapers, ringtones, stickers, videos and interviews.
The phone will be available to pre-order from September 19 at the Carphone Warehouse.
Of that venture, Liam said, “Our fans are always on their phones, so we thought this would be a great thing to do.
“It’s the first time fans have had a chance to have a phone customised by their favourite band.
“We had a brilliant time creating all the ringtones and videos for the phones, especially the paint fight!”
