Exactly one year after finishing third…
One Direction’s debut album is the fastest-selling LP by any of the X Factor2010 finalists.
The boyband came in third place on the show exactly one year ago today, and their first record Up All Night was released in November.
The release of Rebecca Ferguson’s Heaven last week means that all of the Top 5 contestants from the show’s 7th series have now released albums.
One Direction’s effort shifted 138,631 copies in its first week at the end of November, making them the fastest-selling contestants from the 2010 crop.
Ferguson is a close second, having sold an impressive 128,458 copies last week. It has been revealed by Amazon that the Scouse mum-of-two’s LP is the most pre-ordered of the X Factor Class of 2010.
In third, Matt Cardle, who won the series, sold 70,896 copies of Letters during its first seven days of release back in October. Cher Lloyd’s Sticks + Stones is fourth, having opened to 55,668 sales, and semi-finalist Mary Byrne’s Mine & Yours shifted 33,986 back in April.
Little Mix, Marcus Collins, Amelia Lily, Misha B and Janet Devlin were the Top 5 acts this year. Do you think they could all release high-flying records?
